Clingstone

Clingstone is a wild. A house perched on a rock in the middle of Narragansett Bay, built at the turn of the 20th century as an act of defiance. To stay there is rare, I was lucky to spend a few nights, a chance to experience a place that feels almost unreal.

The house is enormous, the rock impossibly small. Walking around its edges and looking up makes you dizzy. Gusts of wind rush through open windows, massive ships slip past in the night, and inside, rooms and passageways unfold like a maze. It was rustic, anarchic, and beautiful.
